Copenhagen calling!

Hola! I’m back from the most amazing summer excursion to Copenhagen, capital city of the second happiest country in the world!

I can’t remember when I first became interested in visiting Copenhagen.  Maybe it was a family friend telling me, “you’d LOVE Copenhagen, it’s so beautiful and so clean.”  Or perhaps it was when Denmark won the Eurovision Song Contest with Emmelie de Forest’s classic ‘Only Teardrops’ (hands down, still one of my favourite winners).  Or maybe it was seeing the stunning photographs on one of my best friend’s Instagram accounts after she explored the city.  Or perhaps it was Denmark being consistently voted the happiest country in the world that made it so appealing.

Either way, it transpired that Copenhagen shot to the top of my ‘travel wish list’ with immediate effect.  I wanted to see it all – the colourful buildings of Nyhavn, the magical lights of Tivoli, and above all else, I wanted to experience first-hand the much fabled, ‘hygge’.

“Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.” - Anita Desai.

So, finally I went!

It’s a beautiful city.  Tall, colourful buildings tower above the cobbled streets below.  We did it all – Nyhavn, Tivoli, the Little Mermaid, a harbour tour, Christianshavn, Amalienborg Palace, the Round Tower, the ruins at Christiansborg Palace, Kronborg Castle at Helsingør (Hamlet’s castle), a trip across THE BRIDGE to Malmö, Sweden, and several ‘mudcakes’ at various different Espresso Houses!

And in and amongst all of that, I had a personal branding shoot with Danish actress and TV presenter, the very lovely, Christa.

The sun shone for our photo-shoot celebrating the super fun, vivacious, and beautiful Christa.  We had SO much fun and shared so much laughter as we frolicked in fountains, beat shamanic drums and enjoyed the most sparkly dress in the world!

See a little taster of Christa’s shoot here:

“If Copenhagen were a person, that person would be generous, beautiful, elderly, but with a flair. A human being that has certain propensities for quarrelling, filled with imagination and with appetite for the new and with respect for the old - somebody who takes good care of things and of people.” - Connie Nielsen

It really was the most glorious time.
