Seeing the low-lying island of Pladda as you venture along the south coast of Arran is always a treat. Whenever I visit Arran I'm always excited to see Pladda for the first time on that trip. Maybe it's because of my first trip on the paddle steamer 'Waverley' as a child that took me close to Pladda, or maybe it's my fascination with lighthouses, but there's a magic about this tiny lonely island. This photograph was taken close to one of my favourite places on Arran - the way down to Silver Sands beach (they have swings part way down - what's not to love!) between Kildonan Castle and the Kildonan Hotel.
